Fatal motor vehicle accidents often due to speeding

On Behalf of | Apr 24, 2019 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Three people recently lost their lives in a tragic fiery crash in Texas. The collision, which involved a car and a semitruck, occurred during the early morning hours on a recent Wednesday. Sometimes these types of motor vehicle accidents occur due to negligent or reckless driving, which is grounds for wrongful death litigation in the Lone Star State.

The accident took place at about 2:15 a.m. along Interstate 30. According to authorities, a car carrying three individuals was traveling at over 100 mph on the highway. All of a sudden, the car struck the road’s center median, hit the back part of a semitruck and caught fire.

The three individuals were unable to escape the wreckage and thus ended up dying in the collision. Meanwhile, the semitruck driver suffered no serious injuries in the collision. A truck passenger also did not suffer serious injuries.

The surviving loved ones of the two passengers in the car that was involved in the Texas crash may decide to file wrongful death claims in this situation, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. Although the driver of the car, who reportedly caused the accident, passed away in the crash, his or her estate may still be sued. Likewise, anyone with an ownership interest in the car may be named as a defendant. Competent proof of negligence is required to establish liability regarding the accident, at which point claims for damages will be determined. A successfully litigated claim may lead to damages that can be used to cover funeral costs and other losses related to these types of fatal motor vehicle accidents.
