An 18-year-old woman’s life was recently snuffed out in a Texas car crash, leaving her loved ones to grieve and wonder how she could have lost her life so soon. Meanwhile, a man was injured in the one-car crash. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents happen due to the carelessness of a driver, in which case the driver might be held liable for any injuries or deaths stemming from the crash.

In the recent crash case, police said that a pickup truck driver, 20, was driving along a street on a Thursday evening. However, he ended up losing control of his truck. As a result, he hit the guardrail on an overpass.

The pickup truck reportedly plummeted about 30 feet and landed below the overpass as a result of the collision. The driver survived the crash but was taken to the hospital with injuries deemed not to be life threatening. However, his female passenger, 18, was pronounced deceased at the accident scene. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the crash.

In this Texas crash situation, the surviving loved ones of the woman who passed away in the crash may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the man who reportedly caused the crash, seeking damages. They must be able to establish liability in the crash before a judge will determine their claim for damages. If they are successful in their case, they might receive a monetary award that may help them to cover the woman’s burial costs and other losses associated with these kinds of motor vehicle accidents.
