Motor vehicle accidents may stem from failure to slow down

On Behalf of | Oct 8, 2019 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

A car wreck involving four cars recently caused six injuries in Texas. The collision took place on a Tuesday morning along U.S. Highway 35. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur as a result of a driver’s carelessness — for example, failure to drive according to traffic conditions — in which case the reportedly at-fault driver may be held liable for any injuries resulting from the crash.

The recent collision took place shortly after 6:40 a.m. Police said that a motor vehicle was going north on the highway but failed to slow down. As a result, the car ran into the back of a second car that was trying to make a turn into a plant area. The impact of these two cars sent the second car into a third car. Meanwhile, the first car ended up striking a fourth car.

The driver of the first motor vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. In addition, the second car’s driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries. The third car’s driver and passenger were also transported to the hospital. Finally, the fourth car’s driver was taken to the hospital as well. The conditions of all of the injured parties except for the first car’s driver were said to be stable.

The injured parties in the second to fourth cars may choose to file personal injury claims against the first car’s driver, seeking damages. If they can establish liability before the Texas court hearing their case, based upon a showing of negligence, a judge will decide their claims for damages. A claim that is fought victoriously might result in financial damages that may help with covering the injured party’s hospital bills and other losses associated with these types of motor vehicle accidents.
