Motor vehicle accidents may stem from failure to slow down

A car wreck involving four cars recently caused six injuries in Texas. The collision took place on a Tuesday morning along U.S. Highway 35. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur as a result of a driver's carelessness -- for example, failure to drive according to traffic conditions -- in which case the reportedly at-fault driver may be held liable for any injuries resulting from the crash.

The recent collision took place shortly after 6:40 a.m. Police said that a motor vehicle was going north on the highway but failed to slow down. As a result, the car ran into the back of a second car that was trying to make a turn into a plant area. The impact of these two cars sent the second car into a third car. Meanwhile, the first car ended up striking a fourth car.

Personal injury: Symptoms that suggest brain trauma

Texas is a big state, and its residents -- like those throughout the country -- often live busy lives. This, in turn, creates stressful situations, such as traffic jams or job-related situations that are challenging for those involved. On the roadway, drivers are legally obligated to adhere to traffic laws and safety regulations. In the workplace, employers are obligated to do certain things to help their employees avoid personal injury.

If a vehicular collision or workplace accident occurs, injuries are not always immediately apparent. In fact, it is possible that an accident victim might feel "okay" just after the incident, then develop adverse symptoms hours, even days, later. This is why it is critical to closely observe someone who has been in a car accident or who has been involved in a workplace mishap. Traumatic brain injury often occurs without presenting immediately obvious symptoms.

Understand hypoxia and its effects

Hypoxia is a dangerous condition that occurs when there isn't enough oxygen being delivered to the cells in the body. Hypoxia can happen with or without normal blood flow.

There are five kinds of hypoxia including:

  • Hypoxic hypoxia
  • Anemic hypoxia
  • Stagnant hypoxia
  • Metabolic hypoxia
  • Histotoxic hypoxia

Motor vehicle accidents may lead to injuries, deaths

Two people have lost their lives in a tragic car wreck in Texas. Meanwhile, three other individuals suffered injuries in the motor vehicle crash. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents occur due to a driver's carelessness, which is grounds for civil litigation in the Lone Star State.

The recent accident took place at a street intersection at around 2:35 a.m. on a Sunday. One of the two people who died in the crash was 18 years old. The second deceased victim's identity and age were not immediately released following the crash.

Nearly $4M medical malpractice claim filed against surgeon

A surgeon in a different state has been blamed for a woman's botched operation. In fact, the woman is suing the surgeon for around $4 million due to his alleged medical malpractice. In the same way, a person in Texas who suffers harm at the hand of a negligent surgeon may seek to hold that surgeon accountable in civil court.

The woman in the out-of-state medical malpractice case asserted that a gastroenterologist essentially poisoned her with fluids from her own body. This allegedly happened when the surgeon cut her during her surgery. The way in which the doctor cut her reportedly caused bodily fluids to enter and cover her organs, resulting in health issues for her.

Family law proceeding of divorce can majorly impact those over 50

The process of getting divorced can understandably be devastating emotionally and financially. However, this family law process can especially be tough for those over the age of 50 in Texas and elsewhere. Unfortunately, the divorce rate for those over 50 is now double what it was back in 1990.

Research shows that divorce after 50, or gray divorce, can be hazardous to both a person's physical and emotional health. For example, people who get divorced later in life may experience depression and higher blood pressure compared with their married counterparts. Research has also shown that getting divorced can lead to weight gain long term.

Motor vehicle accidents involving semis can lead to major injury

An individual in Texas was recently injured in a automobile collision involving a semi-truck. The accident took place on a Tuesday morning along United States Highway 290. Unfortunately, these types of motor vehicle accidents are often the result of a driver's negligence, in which case the driver may be held financially accountable for any injuries resulting from the crash.

The recent Texas accident occurred at around 11:45 a.m. Based on dashcam video of the accident, a semi-truck driver reportedly caused a crash that led to a chain reaction. This appears to have occurred after the semi-truck veered into another highway lane and struck a car there.

A car-truck accident can happen for countless reasons

When driving in close proximity to a commercial vehicle, such as a tractor-trailer or delivery truck, you may have concerns about your safety. Many people are injured in car-truck accidents every year.

Understanding the most common causes of commercial vehicle accidents can help keep you safe. Here are some of the many mistakes truckers and trucking/delivery companies make:

  • Reckless driving: This includes everything from speeding to changing lanes without signaling. Any form of recklessness on the roadway increases the risk of an accident.
  • Driving under the influence: Alcohol, illegal drugs and prescription medications affect a driver's ability to make sound and fast decisions when behind the wheel.
  • Improper loading: An improperly loaded vehicle is one that's more likely to tip. Furthermore, the vehicle could lose its load on the roadway, putting many others at risk of an accident.
  • Drowsy driving: Commercial drivers are prone to driving drowsy, especially if they're asked to spend many consecutive hours on the road.
  • Inadequate training: Employers are responsible for providing its drivers with proper training, such as that related to safety concerns, defensive driving and technique.

Wrong-way motor vehicle accidents may prove fatal

Two people have lost their lives in a wrong-way car crash in Texas. Now, their grieving loved ones are left to question how such a collision could have taken place. Sometimes, these types of motor vehicle accidents happen as a result of a driver's carelessness, which is grounds for civil litigation in the Lone Star State.

The recent head-on collision took place on a Thursday at about 2:30 a.m. According to police, one of the drivers drove in the wrong direction on a turnpike for 11 miles. The female driver, 22, then struck another car that a 53-year-old man was driving.

Man files medical malpractice claim after wire found in his body

A man in another state recently claimed that a surgeon had left a wire inside of him 15 years ago. He has thus filed a lawsuit against the surgeon, who is now on trial. Any patient in Texas who is harmed due to a doctor's error has the right to seek compensation through a medical malpractice claim.

In the recent out-of-state case, the 70-year-old man claimed that the surgeon who left a wire inside of him was doing an angioplasty at a heart center at the time. Ten years later, an X-ray revealed that the wire stretched from the man's aorta to a thigh. The man asserted that doctors did manage to remove most of this wire during a surgery in 2018. However, 20 inches of it reportedly remains near the man's thigh.
